In the 1930s, the Reverso watch was designed for English Polo players to avoid fracturing their watch crystals. It was an innovation in watch-making: it can revolve at 180 degrees, so the face of the watch could "intelligently" spin away from possible danger.
The watch instantly won popularity & was recognized as a symbol of the Art Deco age. From then on, the Reverso was regarded as a cult in design/fashion & is now considered an horological icon.
This JAEGER LE COULTRE Reverso Gran Sport is in near mint condition & comes complete with boxes, papers & accessories. It is a limited edition model presented to women champions during the 2005 Jaeger Le Coultre World Tour for polo & equestrian sports.
The JAEGER LE COULTRE Reverso Gran Sport displays time from 2 time zones in different ways!
The front side contains a silvered guilloche dial with Linton Arabic numerals, printed minute track with three luminescent dots, second sweep sub-dial and day/night indicator below the 12.
On one side, the dial is white, has a day/night display at 12 o'clock that lets you know if you're looking at the time in the AM or in the PM.
It has black full Arabic numeral markers & a sub-second ticker at 6 o'clock.
On the other side, the dial is a combination of silver & white. It has a graphic day/night or sun/moon display at 6 o'clock that lets you know if you're looking at the time in the AM or in the PM.
The case has 2 rows of genuine diamonds - 32 total diamonds set on the top & bottom!
